Eating healthy and eating to heal are not always interchangeable terms. Right now, I’m doing the latter, and most of my recipes reflect this. As I begin to add more vegetables and other ingredients into my diet, my recipes will have a little more spunk and a little less squishyness. Most recipes found online, even on the allergen-friendly sites, are not suitable for someone with IBD who is actively flaring. But even the sickest kids need to eat too! Of course, if you’re limited to millet, chicken, and veggie broth, there’s not much to be done there, but when you can add in a little more, like boiled vegetables, things can get a little more interesting. Here are the recipes that I’ve created for these cases. Some may need to be altered for your needs, and maybe some won’t agree with you at all. However, they are all free of gluten, refined sugar, dairy, yeast, soy, and corn. Keep in mind that I have no background in nutrition or holistic medicine besides what I’ve learned from having UC, and I’m still learning.
