Support the MA Restroom Access Bill!

You’re Welcome?

Before I leave for vacation, I want to let you all know that there is a Restroom Access Bill in the works in Massachusetts. If this bill (H.2366) is passed, then those with IBD or “any other medical condition that requires immediate access to a restroom facility” would be allowed access to the employee bathrooms in retail stores. As of now, 12 states have a similar law in place.

Know that I’m in complete support of this bill and it would be lovely if you would sign the change.org petition, pass on that petition, and/or call/email your representative or the sponsoring representative, Louis Kafka.

I have emailed Mr. Kafka with my support. There is some resistance against this bill from the Retailers Association of Massachusetts even though it absolves retailers of liability and only applies to stores where there are at least two employees so that one can stay at the cash register. (See the boston.com article on this.) Others are saying that this bill would make Massachusetts a “nanny state.” I think my entire blog refutes that statement by proving how serious IBD can be.

Thanks for your support, friends!
